Hello friends. Well we made it! It’s Christmas Eve and I’ve finished shopping, wrapping my gifts, and preparing for a long winters nap. Seriously though, I’m ready. Ready to see smiles and joy, sleepy faces, and love tomorrow morning. Tonight’s post will be a short one, because I’m going to snuggle on the couch and watch some more Christmas movies with my family.
We are currently watching “White Christmas” starring Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney and Danny Kaye. It’s such a great movie about love, laughter, and most of all, giving. Giving is what this season is about. And I’m not talking about just the presents under the tree, but giving your love, time, and services to those you love or those in need. This movie reminds me about what is important this time of year. Acts of selflessness, doing things just because. Not for praise or accolades, or even receiving something in return. Just giving because you feel good about it, because you see joy in others, you see love, and in some cases you see relief.
There are so many people who have a difficult time during the holidays. Sometimes it’s because they don’t have any money, maybe they recently lost a loved one, or this time of year reminds them of loss. There are so many people that suffer from depression and anxiety and this time of year is especially hard for them. It can almost be paralyzing. So remember your friends and loved ones. Check in on your neighbors, especially if you know they are alone. Just caring is sometimes life changing for another person.
So as I say goodnight, I wish you all a beautiful holiday and a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your families and loved ones. Watch some great Christmas movies. And spend some time just being in the moment.
